Video Caching - Bytemobile Joins the Party

One more vendor joins the growing number of video caching solution providers (see "Video Caching Market Finally Growing" - here - includes a market landscape review) - this time it is Bytemobile, the vendor of optimization solutions (which is a nice combination).

"The latest Unison release – which includes new media caching capabilities – reflects the changing nature of data traffic on mobile networks and provides operators with a single unified platform to manage the explosive growth of mobile video traffic effectively"

See Bytemobile Enhances Market-Leading Video Optimization Solution to Include Media Caching - here.

"Recent Bytemobile video optimization deployments show that nearly half of all videos requested on wireless networks are repeat downloads. On average, within a seven-day period, the most popular YouTube videos are downloaded more than 600 times, and the top video advertisements are downloaded over 5,000 times. As a result, a considerable amount of duplicate video content is traversing wireless networks and stressing the entire mobile content delivery supply chain ..  The new media caching feature can reduce network downloads by 25-50% – further reducing the cost of video delivery and improving the overall economics of data services offered by operators"

Similar saving numbers were mentioned by PeerApp, a pure caching player.
